Value: Art: Politics focuses on the politics of value and the value of politics in contemporary art and art history. The series seeks to publish work by both emerging scholars and established authors with international reputations.
Value: Art: Politics encourages proposals for books and edited collections on the following topics:
- Studies of contemporary, modern, and historical visual art and artists in which questions of value and political meaning are central. Prospective authors will be encouraged to define and elaborate concepts of value and political meaning as key parts of their exegeses.
- Theoretical studies, especially those drawing on contemporary art and art theory cases, that examine critically accounts of value and politics in art history, art criticism, literary, cultural studies, and related fields. These may be either in monograph form or treated within anthologies of essays.
- Special focus on historical and contemporary visual culture as opposed to traditional visual arts as part of Liverpool University Press's commitment to work on the popular arts and cultural sociology.
- Special focus on value and political meaning in contemporary art institutions, within studies that seek to redefine the fields of art history, art theory and visual culture studies.
Proposals are warmly invited for the series; please contact the commissioning editor with a Proposal Submission Form.
